Answering Your Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What makes you different from the big-name firms?

As an independent registered investment advisor, Eudaimonia Wealth can provide truly objective, expert advice. With no affiliations or limitations, we can select from the best resources and latest technology, regardless of where they’re held, to help you reach your goals. This ability to act as true advocates for the families we serve allows us to provide a personalized financial planning experience based around what’s important to them, and not the firm we work for.

Q: What is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™, CFP® Designation?

Anyone can call themselves a “financial planner” or a “financial advisor.” But only professionals who fulfilled the certification, education, training and renewal requirements of the CFP® Board can display the CFP® certification marks. That’s why it’s important to look for the CFP® designation when considering who to hire as your financial planning. As a CFP® Professional, we are required by the CFP® Board to put your interest ahead of our own.

Here’s what’s required to hold a CFP®:

  • Education – Complete a comprehensive course of study, which covers the financial planning curriculum approved by the CFP Board.
  • Examination – CFP® professionals must pass CFP Board’s comprehensive examination, which tests an individual’s ability to integrate and apply their financial planning knowledge.
  • Experience – Three years of financial planning-related experience before one can use the CFP® marks.
  • Ethics – Agree to be bound by CFP Board’s Code of Ethics and Standards of Conduct, a set of documents outlining the ethical and practice standards for CFP® professionals.
Q: What does it mean to be a fiduciary and why is this important to me?

A  fiduciary has the highest ethical obligation to put your interests ahead of their compensation and any other considerations.  Believe it or not, most financial professionals are not held to this standard and only required that their recommendations are “suitable,” a loosely-held definition.  This can sometimes result in conflicts of interest, and people being sold products to generate a higher commission.  We look forward to the day that all financial advice is provided under the fiduciary standard.

Q: How does Eudaimonia Wealth make money?

We are a fee-only (commission-free) financial planning firm. This means the only compensation we receive comes directly from the advice we provide you. We believe this is the fairest method to provide financial advice as it ensures our interests are always aligned with yours. Since we’re not tied to any proprietary products, we can act as true advocates to identify the most cost-effective and appropriate solutions to meet your goals. Before committing to an engagement, our clients know exactly what they’ll pay for the advice they receive.

Q: What does a typical client look like?

Our clients are diligent savers who often started working with us when seeking guidance around if and when they could retire.  They value our role in their lives and are intentional about the way they spend their time and energy.  Our clients share our belief that the purpose of wealth is to add to the overall value of your life, and enjoy working together in an ongoing capacity.

Q: What's up with your name?

Eudaimonia (pronounced you-day-mo-nia) is a term from ancient Greek philosophy used to describe an ultimate state that could be achieved by living a life of meaning, purpose, and fulfillment. It was considered to be a state of “peak performance in the art of living” and represents to the core what we believe real financial planning is all about.

Q: How do I know my money is safe?

Eudaimonia Wealth will never take custody of client assets. We partner with a third-party custodian to ensure your money is always held safely, securely, and separately from our firm. To learn more about our primary custodian, visit our team page.

Q: Do I need a minimum amount to work with you?

We do not have a minimum asset requirement.  We believe in helping as many people as we can with taking control of their financial lives.  That being said, we’ve found that we can provide the best value to those who have saved at least $500,000 in investable assets.

Q: Where are you located?

Our office is in the city of Buffalo on Delaware Avenue, within the former Chapin Mansion. For a detailed map, please visit our contact page.
